Our Mission

At the Mounted Horse Foundation, our mission is to preserve and promote the vital role of horses in community service, public engagement, and emergency readiness. We are dedicated to supporting the care, training, and long-term welfare of the horses and volunteers who serve through mounted unit activities in Boulder City.

By providing resources, education, and operational support, we ensure that these partnerships between people and horses continue to benefit our community — regardless of changes in city support or funding. Our goal is to uphold the tradition, safety, and impact of mounted service in a way that honors both the animals and the people who work alongside them.

Our Vision

We envision a future where mounted units are fully integrated into community life - not only as a tool for public safety but as a bridge for healing, education, and connection between people and horses.

Our History

The Mounted Horse Foundation was established to provide a more focused and sustainable way to support the horses serving in mounted public safety roles. Originally, the Boulder City Mounted Unit operated under the Friends of the Boulder City Police Department, a broader nonprofit that supported multiple city functions. While this structure offered general support, it wasn’t designed to meet the specific financial, operational, and long-term care needs of the horses.

Recognizing the need for a more dedicated approach, the Foundation was created to streamline efforts, improve transparency, and ensure that the horses and riders could be supported properly—with the dignity, consistency, and professionalism they deserve.
